to lead into the other big songwriting partnership in the 90's that took the place left by SAW, the METRO team, published by Rive Droite Music Ltd.īut first things first, let's list the amazing set of songs written & composed by Stock/Aitken/Waterman, even though we all know now Pete's musical imput was largely minus to Mike & Matt's. too, even those after they parted company with Pete Waterman, Phil Harding & Ian Curnow, Jewels & Stone, etc.

popmusic empire, what the music journalists soon called The Hit Factory, but I will feature the other PWL peoples' songs too, that were published by PWL's publishing company All Boys Music Ltd. I will start with Mike Stock, Matt Aitken & Pete Waterman's ones, as they were the main songwriters from the Pete Waterman Ltd. Now is the time to feature my main songwriting team's impressive list of songs. I have already posted about Babyface's songs (either with L.A.Reid or solo) and Diane Warren. That made me wait for every next release where the following people were involved : Stock Aitken & Waterman, naturally, but Pete Hammond, Phil Harding & Ian Curnow, Dave Ford and all the others PWL mixers too, Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis, L.A.Reid, Babyface & Daryl Simmons, Diane Warren, Romano Musumarra, David Morales & Frankie Knuckles, and the number of the VIPs on this list soon increased with each new CD I bought.

That made me a SAW/PWL fanatic and a credit reader : when most of the people, when they buy a CD, simply put it in the CD player and only ever opened the booklet to sing along to the lyrics when they were printed on it, I first searched for the songwriters' names, credits for producers & mixers even before starting listening to the CD, to get to know new names of behind the scene people I could follow their next song/production/remix. I soon discovered they were responsible for Bananarama's Venus too, even though it was a cover version but they made me want to know these behind the scene people so that I could search for their next output as I quite loved all the artists they worked with. When I was a teenager and started listening music and watching the videos in the french charts on the Top50 TV show, I discovered song after song that the english hits I liked seemed to have the same names credited on TV : " Stock / Aitken / Waterman" : I will always remember these credits on the Sinitta video for Toy boy then on Bananarama's I want you back and naturally Rick Astley's Never gonna give you up.
